What is the difference between an individual program and a group program?

Individual Programs and Group Programs

There are two types of programs in Volt, Group and Individual. When creating a program, you can select a program type and assign it to either a group or individual user.

Group Programs

A Group Program is designed to be used by a group of people who are training together for the same goal, and must be assigned to a group. When you edit workouts in a Group Program, those edits are made for everyone in the group. A Group Program runs on an auto-advancing calendar, which moves users forward every week automatically, in order to keep them tracking toward the same training goal. Users training on a Group Program will roll over to a new week of workouts every Sunday, regardless of whether they completed all workouts in the previous week. A user may be assigned to many Group Programs.

Individual Programs

An Individual Program is designed to be used by a single individual, and must be assigned to an individual user. When you edit workouts in an Individual Program, those edits are made for that individual user only. An Individual Program runs on a self-paced calendar, which moves the user forward in the program as they complete workouts, in order to allow them to move at their own pace. A user training on an Individual Program will roll over to a new week of workouts only when they have completed all workouts in the previous week — or when they choose to skip ahead to later workouts in their program. An individual user may only have one Individual Program.

Individual users who download the Volt app to train without a coach will create an Individual Program for themselves when they answer questions during the signup process. Coaches can edit these previously created Individual Programs for the user, but they cannot create a new Individual Program for them. Users will also be able to edit their own Individual Program in the Volt app

How to select a program type:

Select the Programs index page > Select Create Program > Under Program Details, select a Program Type
