What is a Movement Replacement?

What Does it Mean to Replace a Movement

The Movement Replacement tool allows you to customize the Volt program, movement by movement. You can choose to replace a movement just for this week, for the entire block, or always. This is especially useful for working around any equipment limitations (e.g., selecting to always replace a Lat Pulldown for a Supine Row, if there is not a lat pulldown machine). You can customize your workouts using Movement Replacements by going to Programs, then click the icon on any movement in any workout.

Benefits of Movement Replacements

Lack of equipment. Over breaks, holidays, vacations, or even team travel, there can be times when athletes have limited equipment available to them. This feature allows athletes to get their training done, anytime, anywhere—no excuses.

Athlete limitations. Whether an athlete is returning to play after an injury or simply progressing at a different rate than the team, athletes can replace movements for themselves without affecting the rest of the team. Athletes can do this right within their app

Training session modifications. While in the weight room with your athletes, you may notice an athlete needs a bit more work on their hang clean, and with this feature, you are able to instruct your athlete to replace their BB Hang Clean with a modification, bringing over the appropriate sets, reps, and loading for that given block.

Recommended replacements. Coaches and athletes have access to over 1,000+ movements from Volt’s library, but every movement we have selected for your program comes with 6 recommended replacements that are the optimal choice for that category.

Coach control. Prefer not to utilize this feature for a certain program or while the athletes are training with you? You can toggle this feature off by going to the training tab, clicking the three dots next to the ‘extras’ in the right corner and editing the details of that program. You can do this at any time, allowing full control over who has access to this feature, and when.

How Do I Turn Off Movement Replacements For My Athletes?

You can toggle this feature off by going to the training tab, clicking the three dots next to the ‘extras’ in the right corner and editing the details of that program. This way, you can decide who can still have access to this feature and who cannot on a program by program basis.

Can I View/Change Movement Replacements Made By My Athletes?

The best thing to do is to have a conversation with your athletes to make sure you are all on the same page when it comes to replacing movements. You will be able to see any movement replacements, indicated by a red movement replacement icon. If you’d like, you can change the replacement by canceling the replacement and making another in its place.
